Nasi Lemak

Nasi Lemak is one of the most popular local authentic foods in Malaysia. This comes as a platter of food wrapped in cucumber slices, small fried anchovies (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, hard boiled egg, and hot spicy sauce (sambal) at its core. As a more substantial meal, nasi lemak can also come with a variety of other accompaniments such as cuttlefish, chicken or beef rendang (beef stewed in coconut milk and spices). Traditionally most of these accompaniments are spicy in nature.

Char Kuey Teow

Char kway teow is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia. The dish was typically prepared at hawker stalls. It is made from flat rice noodles, stir-fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, a small quantity of belachan, whole prawns, deshelled cockles, bean sprouts and chopped Chinese chives. The dish may commonly be stir-fried with egg.

Sizzling Hotplate Yee Mee

Hot plate meals are prepared over open fire and served straight away while the sauce is still sizzling, hence the name. There are many variations of hot plates but this is probably the most popular. Sizzling Yee Mee is typical meal that you can find in food courts in Malaysia.

Beef & Lamb Steak

A steak is a cut of meat (usually beef). Most are cut perpendicular to the muscle fibers, improving the perceived tenderness of the meat. Steaks are typically served grilled, pan-fried, or broiled. The more tender cuts from the loin and rib are cooked quickly, using dry heat, and served whole. Less tender cuts from the chuck or round are cooked with moist heat or are mechanically tenderized. The amount of time a steak is cooked is based upon personal preference; shorter cooking times retain more juice, whereas longer steak cooking times result in drier, tougher meat.

Chicken Rice

Chicken Rice is a rice meal of Hainanese origin that has taken root in Malaysia. It is one of the popular foods found in Malaysia. The chicken rice usually served over a bed of sliced cucumber, sprinkled with chopped spring onion and drenched in oily soy sauce. Roasted chicken are mostly preferred.The rice is cooked in chicken stock, which makes it oily and gives it a mouth-watering aroma.
